What's your name and where are you from?

My name is Sophia and I live by the sea in Hastings.

Please can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I’m 35 and I live with my partner. Due to disability, I was not able to have a regular job for several years. I found PA during this time, thankfully. Now I help run a business with my partner, working part time from home. And, of course, still do Matched Betting every day too!

How long have you been a member of Profit Accumulator?

I first joined in 2017. I completed the signups but struggled to get into reloads, and had a long break. I came back to it in March 2020, starting with Casino signups, then learning sports reloads, and haven’t looked back since. It’s been the second-best thing to come out of these lockdowns…

Can you remember how you first heard about Matched Betting and what you initially thought about it? What convinced you to give it a go?

I think I saw a Facebook ad. I was very dubious at first as it seemed too good to be true – but with a free trial I thought it was worth a shot. I put a note in my calendar to cancel the subscription immediately after, as I assumed it would be a scam. As soon as I realised it was legit, I was hooked.

Had you ever placed a bet before Matched Betting? Did you know anything about sports at all?

I think the closest I got to betting before this was an office sweepstake on the Grand National or something like that. I have no interest in sports in general, I hate football especially! But I am a big fan of money ;)

How easy or difficult did you find it to learn Matched Betting?

I found it reasonably easy. I followed the tutorials exactly at first, and took my time. I didn’t worry about understanding the ins and outs right away as the guides were so comprehensive that I could just follow those.

I’m pretty good with numbers though, so I tracked what was going out and coming in using a spreadsheet, and the understanding came naturally by watching the bets settle and the profits add up.

What was your starting bankroll (or cash float)?

About £200, which I took back after a month. I’ve been reinvesting the profits ever since.

How much profit have you made so far?

I’ve just hit £8,000 in total, over £7,000 of that in the last 12 months.

Now I have my routine down, I expect to beat my own records this year. I made 4k in 2020, but 2021 has already bought in 3k - and it’s only May.

Have you bought anything nice? Or are you saving up for something special?

I haven’t withdrawn much at all as I’ve been quite addicted to watching it all add up! Having a big bankroll has also been very helpful during events like Cheltenham and the Grand National.

But my partner and I are now expecting our first baby this summer (the #1 best thing to come out of these lockdowns!) and so I am working extra hard to grow my money, and to put it all towards our first proper family home.

I am delighted that I have this income and that is so flexible. It gives me real security to know that when my baby arrives, I can take a break from MBing with no notice, and then go back to it when I want, on my own terms, with whatever free time I have. It’s really the perfect fit for me right now.

Do your family and friends understand how you have made the money?

Yes, I tell people whenever they will listen! Only my partner fully understands it, but luckily my family and friends trust that I am sensible and good with numbers so they believe me when I tell them it’s not gambling. They think I’m frightfully clever (I don’t mention that all the hard work is done for me!)

Are you a person that tracks everything or do you just roughly tot up your total profits every week or so?

Oh, I definitely track everything. I like to know where my money is at all times for peace of mind – and tracking all the deposits and balances also means I never misplace cash or miss a free bet! It’s also really helpful to know which types of offers are the best earners, and finally, seeing exactly how much I’ve made each month really keeps me motivated.

I use a matched betting profit tracking spreadsheet that I found online. I’m pretty comfortable with Excel so this approach suits me and I’ve now modified it a bit to my preferences. (More data! More graphs!)

This is one of my favourite graphs to look at from the spreadsheet. This shows my progress from different stages of matched betting over the last year. Bonus Accumulator enticed me back during the first lockdown and I had several months of Casino signups which I really enjoyed. When those signups ran out and sports came back, I didn’t want to stop earning, so, I committed to trying to consistently hit reloads to find out for myself if it really WAS possible to earn several hundred a month just from those. The progress from the first month of that (November) until now is very satisfying!

How much time do you think you spend Matched Betting? When do you tend to do most of your Matched Betting?

I bet every day as a general rule. I try to get most things done first thing in the morning. I could do my normal daily routine in about an hour to an hour and half, but I do take my time as I don’t have an office to get to. I sometimes check up on things and pop on price boosts through the day. I would say on average I spend an unhurried 1.5-2 hours a day, including weekends.

What kind of offers do you do to make money now?

I like any offer that is simple, repeatable and quick to get on! Since Coral’s BBL has come back I’ve been doing that every day, just backing and laying the favourite or second favourite when the odds are >95%.

I also look for other Horse Race Refunds every day – these mostly come from Paddy and Sky.

I check the forum for Price Boosts, especially on bookies I use less or am already gubbed by.

Then, of course, any simple Bet and Get offer I will always do – it’s surprising how many of these come up in a month. I normally see these directly in my emails or mentioned on the Facebook group.

Then I’ll look for close matches for a Bore Draw chance.

If I have more spare time in the day, then I’ll look at Extra Places – mostly on weekends or during racing festivals.

I’ll also take any low or medium risk casino offers that are emailed to me. They are easy earners once you know what is worth doing.

This is a sample of where most of my profits came from in March.

How have you found PA's services so far? What aspects do you like the most?

The oddsmatcher is obviously key, the time saving of not having to look for each bet manually is huge. Also, the forum and the FB group are very, very helpful as people post offers and good matches they have found – making it even easier for everyone else. I like that culture of sharing the knowledge and the profits.

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking of starting Matched Betting?

I would tell them just to start. Doing it yourself is the best way to see that it really works, and the only way to truly understand it.

What would you say to people who think Matched Betting is a scam, gambling or too good to be true?

You have to put time and effort in to get money out, so it’s actually more like a job! Just one with a lot of flexibility and a tax-free income. Who can say fairer than that?

What advice and tips would you give to a new PA member who's just about to start doing reload offers?

Although you might look at the average reload and see a profit of £3-4 and think it’s barely worth bothering, you have to realise that doing just 3 of those a day will bring you £200-300 every month, tax free. And since these offers are so quick and easy, you will probably be hitting more than that. You have to realise how quickly it all adds up and you’ll soon see that it’s very worthwhile.

Finally some quick fire questions...

Football or Horse Racing?
Horses - less waiting and a chance of a BOG

Forum or Facebook?
Facebook, though I use the forum too

Betfair or Smarkets?
Smarkets. Can’t beat 0% commission.

Sports or Casino?
Both!

...and a word or short phrase to sum up how you feel about Matched Betting with PA?

A godsend
