Royal Ascot starts on Tuesday 14th June 2022, and lasts 5 days until Saturday 18th June 2022.

Big horse racing festivals are a huge opportunity for us Matched Bettors as the returns can be amazing.

After the Cheltenham Festival and the Grand National, Royal Ascot is one of the major horse racing events to watch out for. We should see various free bet offers, money back specials, price boosts and lots of 'extra place races'.

Here I'm going to share a few general tips on Matched Betting the Royal Ascot festival. Plus, a beginners' strategy guide for how you could approach each day of the festival. If you're new to Matched Betting, or have never done Matched Betting during a horse racing festival, you will find this article helpful.

TIP 1 - Mission CRITICAL!

Make sure your 0% commission is active at Smarkets

This is so vitally important to do. We really can't emphasize this enough. It will instantly increase the returns you can make.

If you haven't already please follow this guide to get 0% commission at Smarkets.

TIP 2 - Know the Schedule

Royal Ascot 2022 Races, ITV Races and Highlights

It can be useful to know the daily race schedules and which races are the ‘highlight’ of each day. The bookies run a variety of offers throughout each day. But, some tend to focus their very best offers on either the first race of the day or the ‘highlight’ race.

If you choose to mug bet, knowing which horses and races the punters are eyeing up or focusing on can be very useful. With Smarkets accumulator lay feature, if the odds matches are good, you could consider doing small accumulator mug bets on favourite horses or horses in highlight races (usually Group 1 races) too.

TIP 3 - Don't miss out on a single offer!

Missed offers mean missed returns. Here's how to avoid missing the best offers:

1) Keep a close eye on the Reload Offers section
Our Reload Offers section is where you'll find step-by-step guides to all the offers. This will be constantly updated through the week so make sure you regularly refresh to see what's new.

2) Check your emails and texts regularly:
Watch out for invite-only offers from the bookies coming directly to you. They can sometimes send them last minute so try keep an eye out throughout the day.

If you receive a private email offer and you're not sure if it's worthwhile doing or not - the best place to ask is in the forum on the topic "Sports - Is this offer worth doing?".

Don't forget to let other members know about the offer - just in case they've received it too. You can do this in the forum in the "Offers posted by members section".

3) Follow the OffersTeamPA on the Forum:
This is essential for making top returns from reloads in general every single day!

How do you do this?

Open the forum then go to ‘OffersTeamPA’ here

Then click the green plus sign to follow the team. You’ll see every offer that they post in the forum and get a notification pop up each time they do.

4) 'Watch' the following Forum threads:
Another standard essential you should be doing anyway!

The topics we recommend to watch for returns over Royal Ascot include:

How do you watch a topic?

By selecting the ‘Not Watching’ button on the topic and switching it to ‘Watching’

You will then get notifications pop up every time there is a new post in that topic.

Here’s an example of notifications coming from the Price Boost topic:

TIP 4 - Use Shared Liability

Remember to take advantage of Shared Liability anytime you can.

This is essential if you have a limited bankroll as it will allow you to hit more offers.

Make sure you understand how Shared Liability works before Royal Ascot begins because it will 100% help you make more.

TIP 5 - Stick to what you know and can do well

Don't be tempted to jump in on the more advanced offers too soon

Experienced members, like Toby and Alun, will be smashing Extra Places on every horse racing festival they can.

If you have not practicing Extra Place Offers AND read ALL the guides then don't suddenly decide to jump into them at Royal Ascot.

They are an advanced type of Matched Betting offer. So, they need some investment of time to learn and master.

They are worth doing all year round - so don't feel like you're missing out. You can learn them later once you're more experienced with other horse racing offers. You can then be ready to take them on by the end of July at Glorious Goodwood.

If you decide you want to learn Extra Places prior to Royal Ascot, make sure you have read all the guides. Use very small stakes to ensure you don't make any costly mistakes.

TIP 6 - Enjoy Matched Betting

Cheer those horses to come in 2nd, 3rd or 4th! 🙂

Matched Betting should always be a funny side hustle as well as a great way to make some extra money. Big horse racing festivals can be lots of fun cheering on your horses. Although you'll often be cheering on horses to come 2nd, 3rd or 4th, rather than to win. This might you get some funny looks from your friends and family!

If you're doing refund offers, it's always good fun to share with the Facebook community which horses you're cheering on.

If you're quite new to Matched Betting, we recommend that you get familiar with what to do if you have an unmatched/partially matched bet and practice using the Fixabet calculator. This could save you lots of stress if a bet doesn't go to plan. If you do go astray, don't forget you have our support team plus thousands of experienced members all here to help you anytime!

Beginners Daily Strategy Guide to Matched Betting Royal Ascot 2022

It's possible to make a good return over the 5 days at Ascot! But, if you’re quite new to Matched Betting, it can be easy to get overwhelmed with what to do first. As always, we’re here to help!

Here's a useful strategy guide for how you could approach each day:

  1. Do the Big Offers first. Any easy Bet & Get offers, (refund if your horse loses) and direct free bets. You don't want to tie up liability doing Potential offers then realise you don't have enough to do the big offersoffers.
  2. Keep an eye on Price Boosts. Throughout the day there will be Price Boosts available which we can make returns from with very little effort. If the boost is on a strong favourite to win you could consider underlaying for a potential larger returns as well.
  3. Tackle Horse Racing Refunds (a.k.a. ITV Horse Racing) that have the best chance of occurring. On each day there will be a full list of these offers available on the reloads offer main list and on the forum under Sports Reloads Offers > Horse Racing. The top part of the list includes offers that give you a better chance of good returns. Complete these first before doing anything else.
  4. If you've not ever done Extra Places before - tackle any remaining Horse Racing Refunds. If you still have liability left after completing all the 3 steps above, then you could also do some of the refund offers that have a lower chance of occurring. (E.g. £10 free bet if your horse finishes 2nd to the Starting Price (SP) favourite).
  5. If you've been practicing or already doing Extra Places - tackle these first before the lower value Horse Racing Refunds (4 above). If you still have some liability left over in your betting exchanges then now is the time to get on the Extra Place Offers.
