Aintree Festival 2018 finished last weekend and it was another successful festival for matched bettors.

It’s not as profitable as Cheltenham because there are fewer races, but it’s still a great opportunity to make money because many bookmakers run special promotions just for the festival. Any large sporting events are usually good for matched bettors, because bookmakers compete for customers by using free bet offers and monetary promotions.

The best news of the weekend was that Bet365 were running their £125 cash-back offer. A very profitable offer that was the source of most people's profits.

Another great source of profits were the each way and extra place offers. Generally considered more 'advanced' types of offers, but if you take the time to learn how they work then they can be a nice earner.

How did our members do?

Many of our members posted good profit during the festival. The screenshots below are taken from a thread on our forum. These are real people, earning real money.

Competition winners

This year we ran a competition on our forum which gave our members the opportunity to win prizes based on their predictions for who would win the Grand National.

The first prize winner won three months' free membership, and then second and third both won one month free each.

One of the winners kindly donated their winnings to charity. The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife.

What is matched betting?

Bookmakers give money away in the form of bonuses and free bets. Basically, matched betting involves placing multiple bets to trigger these offers. The reason multiple bets are needed is to reduce the risk on your part.

For example, let's say a bookmaker is giving away £10 if you bet £10 on tennis. If the odds are right, it would be possible to bet on Player A to win and bet against (or lay) Player A with another betting company. This would mean your original £10 is returned and you get your £10 bonus from the first bookmaker.
